OKAY let me TELL YOU!!
— ‘Fancy That’, Pink Pantheress’ new mixtape is THAT GIRL.
OK – The mixtape is inspired by old British culture with a kitschy and let me tell you this ate downnnn.
Now personally, I LOVE when people sing about material things and personify them. Pink did this with her earlier song “Mosquito ,” (which was about her over attachment and obsession with her bank account) and she did it AGAIN with “Illegal,” (this song’s is literally about weed)AY let me TELL YOU!!
My top 3 on this mixtape would be:
#1 “Stateside,” -even though I personally HAVE NO INTEREST in an “American hot hot boy.” This song is just fantastic, I do like The Dare, who contributed to this song so maybe that’s part of the reason why this is a 10/10 for me- and my opinion is literally gospel, trust me.
#2 “Tonight,” come talk to me!! This song is soo freaking groovy! The video is giving renaissance and the song was released as the first single for a reason! Pink goes a little more explicit than I’m used to and I am HERE for it.
#3 “Noises,” which is a bop for the paranoid queens such as I. Its such a fun song to listen and dance around to and I love how you lowkey feel a bit nervous… like I also want to know “wtf was that??”
All in all, this mixtape was a 9/10 for me. It was really great and you could feel the intention and care each song was made of, jam packed with references and samples, giving it a grungey retro vibe while also bringing a new sound to pop music that the genre was lacking.
