ROME WASN’T BUILT IN A DAY

A huge career & national milestone has been hit in modern TV streaming as local visionary, Rome’s name echoes as the producer who made Trinidadian culture ‘industry-standard’ with reality series ‘Carnival Catwalk‘ landing on NBC’s Peacock – a major streaming platform distributing its first representation of Trinidadian reality TV that debuted on August 2nd 2025, produced and made by dominantly Trinidadian crew.

With his is accomplishments, he’s become a fixture in every corner of the entertainment industry — so you may be wondering how on Earth does he have the drive to be involved in so many things at once? …Well, when asked, he reveals the marks of a true innovator

Building An Empire

Jerome “Rome” Precilla has had in hand in almost every pot of the feast known as Trinidad Carnival 2025. Music? He’s singing. Events? He’s hosting. Radio? He’s talking. TV? He’s starring and now producing.

But, Rome’s story isn’t just one of visibility—it’s one of vision. A former engineer, Rome made the life-altering decision to pivot into entertainment full-time, committing 100% of himself to the pursuit. “I love facing new challenges,” he explained, a mantra that has driven him from artform-to-artform, from one achievement to the next.

Engineer to Entertainer to Entrepreneur

They say Rome wasn’t built in a day—but Jerome has been building his empire brick by brick, beat by beat, and stage by stage. “When you’re an entrepreneur and you’re an entertainer, you don’t have fixed working hours, so you work all the time. I work way more now than I used to work as an engineer.”

On the Global Stage

Breaking Ground

His passion has led him to the global stage – Making a name outside of home started with landing on the cast VH1 Reality TV Series ‘Girls Cruise’ starring American Grammy Award winning superstars Lil Kim, Mya and Chilli (of TLC) alongside comedians B Simone and Pretty Vee of Nick Cannon’s MTV’s Wilding Out, actress Tiffany Panhilason, Food Network Chef Tobias Dorzon and husband of fashion icon Marc Jacobs; Char Defrancesco (About — Rome’s Big Break). He played the ‘Fun Director’. But, global success never meant losing the love for the culture.

Before he took to the stage overseas, he became a Trinidadian household name with his hit double entendre Soca Parang songs ‘Annie’ & ‘Apoo’. Yes, Rome’s entertainment beginnings were on the local music scene —

— And to this day, with recent release Bara. Rome continues to build a music catalogue that pronounces his Caribbean roots; a passion it seems extends even beyond the music

Our Reality in a World That’s Watching

Rome’s advice to up-comers…

“Any Opportunity to perform, I took it.”

– Rome from WI of The Future’s Interview. Listen Below

They say Rome wasn’t built in a day—but Jerome “Rome” Precilla has been building his empire brick by brick, beat by beat, and stage by stage. In effort to forefront the culture he knows and loves, comes with drawbacks and sacrifices. believes. His astronomic goals have made it difficult for him to see his family as much as he’d like or build lasting personal relationships.

Through these hardships though, Rome found himself involved in one of the biggest events of Carnival 2025, the Ultimate Soca Champion. The Trinidadian government was in need of a new Soca competition since the retirement of the Soca Monarch, and being inspired by America’s Got Talent, Rome and company submitted their proposal for a new type of contest, and thus the Ultimate Soca Champion was born. Being more of a talent show, the competition filled a gap in the industry, giving platform to many young and upcoming artists who may not have had an opportunity of such magnitude otherwise.

“In terms of competition as well, it helps you to hone your skills and your craft, because you know you are going up against the best in your field.” Rome on the importance of events like this to artists across the country.

Carnival Catwalk, the fashion-based local reality TV show, was another successful project that Rome was involved in during this Carnival season. Going into it, he wasn’t big into fashion, but he was looking for a concept that would display Caribbean culture to the world in a unique way.

“Our Carnival has a lot of fashion influence in it with the costumes being a big part of Carnival, so why not have fashion fused with Carnival and that would appeal to an international audience…and it did!”

Rome also stated that he now has a much greater appreciation for fashion since working on the show, understanding its importance in entertainment across the board.
He also thinks that, like Carnival Catwalk, local media is underappreciated when compared to foreign media. In his opinion, locally produced content should be more frequently produced and consumed, and more attention should definitely be given to that side of the industry.

So What’s Next For ROME?

WINTER IS COMING TO T&T

Jerome is a man who has been faced with many challenges on the journey to where he his now, but his passion has always exceeded any drawback, and his mind has always remained strong

Who knows, in all honesty. What we do know though, is that he will certainly put his best foot forward in an attempt to reach any goal he may set for himself.
