The Caribbean’s first fantasy/period saga!
For fans of Games of Thrones, House of The Dragon & other epic sagas, a project adapting the local novel ‘Dark & Cold’ into the film: series format has immerged, with a West Indian flavour. It is entitled — ‘One of Iron’
An augur out of nowhere-
On September 30th 2024, a casting call was distributed through the Trinidad & Tobago Performing Arts network. An ambitious project by nature of both genre and magnitude: a modest response followed to the clearly ambitious project made for tricky casting decisions. The producers, Bustr Media Enterprise and author Ciara Attong, managed to pull together the best candidates for the upcoming short and have eyes on actors for future development.
Since casting the project has completed a rehearsal period and has begun production and post-production for a projected release of its first trailer at a date TBA in September.
In addition to the film project, the partnership of author and media agency allowed for the evolution of the original IP (the adapted novel ‘Dark & Cold’) to now release its ‘Royal Edition‘ – a new edition and promotional tool for enhancing both sales & audience interest by including add-ons towards teasing and giving production secrets on how the ambitious project came together as well as fan-specific content curated by the author that dissects the world & complex characters that inspired the cinematic adaptation.
A festival and fan affair
EVEN FURTHER, Bustr, as a company that sees the market potential for Caribbean original books, games, films & other forms of media, seeks to expand the project’s value through the festival & event space.
In the same month set for its trailer release, an event themed after the medieval, regency and war settings will be produced by the production company. The event is projected to feature unique aspects from tension-building games, costume/prop-ticket packages and house/kingdom sorting pulled straight out of the novel to create a fun and cinematic atmosphere. The event will also be in conjunction with the company’s market tour which is set to giveaway prizes to attendees who fulfil the title of the ‘One of Iron’ synonymous with the film title.
Marketing towards these elements of this ambitious project has already begun and items to secure the public’s participation in this rare phenomenon of Caribbean media radiance are set to be available for purchase very soon.
